This menu item allows you to change the name of a file or directory on a remote computer. If a file is currently selected you will be prompted for the new name; otherwise you will be prompted for the current name and a new name. Try to choose a name that will be acceptable to the other computer: some systems have file name length limits and do not allow certain characters. If you specify an improper name you will get an error message.
On Unix servers and some others it is possible to move a file to a new directory by renaming it. For example, renaming ╥myfile╙ to ╥newdir/myfile╙ moves it into the ╥newdir╙ directory.
